Do I need sunglasses?

Sunglasses are more than just a fashion statement or a wardrobe accessory. They play a key role in eye protection.

Exposure to Ultraviolet (UV) Radiation can not only be harmful to your skin, but for your eyes as well. Did you know that your eyes can be sunburned?  UV coatings are added to sunglass lenses to reduce the amount of ultraviolet radiation from passing through and reaching your eyes.  UV protective coatings are actually clear which means lenses are not necessarily better for your eyes if they are darker. Rather you need to make sure your lenses have at least 99% UV protection against both UVA rays (which age us) and UVB (which burn us) rays.   Most high quality sunglasses will have this level of protection.

Take your sun protection to the next level with wrap-style sunglasses.  Not only are they cool and sporty, but this style is also great for protecting your eyes against the wind and debris.  Overexposure to wind can cause painful dry eyes and over time, debris can cause corneal abrasion.

Sunglasses can also prevent wrinkles around your eyes! Without sunglasses, your eyes will squint to prevent too much light from entering. Sunglasses can reduce this muscle fatigue and premature aging around your eyes.
